さて、最後のシングルとなりましたね。
早いです。
いえ、彼女たちにとってはここまでとてつもなく長かったんだと思います。
小学生で芸能界入りし、Berryz工房より少し結成は遅かったものの、 そこから数えても小、中、高、大学、大学院あたりまで一貫校で過ごしたような、そんな終わりなき戦いだったように思います。
だれもが浮かれるお正月やバレンタイン、夏休みに、クリスマス。当然のようにやってくる土曜に日曜。全部℃-uteのために時間を使ってきた彼女たちの将来、どんな将来なのだろうか。そしてどんなママになっていくのか。
いつまでも師として見守っていこうとそう感じております。
さて、ほとんどの言いたい事は前回のシングル「Singing～あの頃のように～」で書き尽くしたように思ってました。
しかし、違います。まだ彼女たちが歌うべき曲があります。
なのでラストシングルは最後のツアーを意識しました。
もしくは最後の最後のコンサートのイメージかな。
それが「To Tomorrow」
もう何百回、もしかしたら１０００回以上のライブを演じてきた彼女たちのグループとしての最後のステージ。
コンサート本編も終わり、楽屋に戻った彼女たちには客席からの大きな大きなアンコールの声が聞こえています。 過去のいろんな思い出が心に溢れてきて、感動でいっぱいです。 溢れてくる涙をお化粧で抑えて最後のステージへと向かう彼女たち。 涙がいっぱいであっても、きっと笑顔でステージにあがるんじゃないかな。 笑顔で皆さんに手を振ってるんじゃないかな。そう思いながら歌詞を仕上げていきます。
曲調はミディアムテンポではありながら明るくもありあたたかくもあるメロディとサウンド。最後にぴったりの曲です。
しかし、そこでふと疑問に思いました。
彼女たちは本当の最後の最後、心の中はどうなっているのだろうかと。
「はぁ、やっと終わる。お疲れ様。」
「本当にこれまで皆さんありがとうございました」
「解放〜」
「さみしいよう。もっと居たい」
などなど、本当の心の中はどうなってるんだろう。
そう思ってメンバー一人一人にぶっちゃけの心の中を聞きました。
今までは歌詞を書くとき、メンバーにいちいちどんな気持ち！？ なんてリサーチした事なんてありません。僕は僕の作品として僕の頭でクリエイトした歌詞を書くのですが、今回だけは、彼女たちの最後のシングルとして歌うときに、自分の心にない事を歌うのは辛いだろうなぁって思って。
みんなバラバラの意見が帰ってくるかと思ったんですが、でも、みんな共通して、「今まで、ありがとうございました。感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです」というのです。
それはファンの皆様への気持ち、スタッフや両親姉妹にむけて同じように感謝の気持ちを持っていました。
そうか、ここまで青春を捧げて来た事に対してきちんと消化し、自分のものとして吸収してるんだなぁと、そう思いました。
まさにプロ。
メンバーによっては、何か嫌に思う事とかあって解散に至ったのかなぁって思ってもみたけど、彼女たちのこの言葉を聞いて思ったのは本当にやるべき事をやった上でのたどり着いた解散なんだなとそう思います。
人間、常に向上心のある人はいつも前向きです。
そして過去をも重んじ、未来に向かって今を楽しみます。
「感謝の気持ちでいっぱいだし、残りの℃-uteの時間を思いっきり楽しみます」と。
なんと素晴らしい事か。
そういう事から歌詞の最後は
今日まで本当に ありがとう
全部やりきったよ Feel fantastic!!
としました。
最後の彼女たちの歌声がどんな風になるのか、本当に楽しみです。
そしてもう一曲。
シングル盤として最後を飾るのは、 「The Curtain Rises 」
そう「幕が開く！」
まさにそんな曲です。
最後の最後のツアーのオープニングの曲のイメージでもありますが、でもこれは、彼女たちの次の人生の幕開けの曲なのかもしれません。
彼女たちをここまで支えて来たプライド。
僕はいつも歌手であることに誇りを持つように教えてきました。
リズムやピッチのことももちろん教えましたが、そんなことでなく歌手という誇り。それをしっかり持っていれば、髪型や服装、水着の仕事とか、あれが好き、これが嫌いとかそういう基準で物事を判断しなくって済むわけです。
それらを理解している子もいるかもしれませんが、幼い頃から始め、思春期まっただ中だった彼女たちが本当の意味で理解するのはまだ先のことなのかもしれません。
それでもきっと誇りを持って歌ってくれていると信じていました。
だからこそ最後のツアー、最後のライブは誰も水をささず、誰も野暮は言いっこなしで、自分たちでやりきって輝き歌い散ってほしい、そんな風に思います。
バックトラックはもしかすると℃-uteの歴史の中で一番ハードでスピーディに感じるビート感かもしれません。
そしてメンバーも意識しておりましたが、グループとしてRAPがしっかり入った曲はこれが最初で最後となります。
さあ、皆様もぜひ最後までどの瞬間も決して見逃さないであげてください。
